Steppe Lunar Festival
Date: February 21st 2026
Location: Crystal DC, Mateus, Reunion in the Azim Steppe. Starting at the hill overhanging Reunion.
Begins at 4PM EST

We based this event from the real life Mongolian Lunar Festival, rather than the game narrative. The lore of the Azim Steppe references the shamanistic belief system of 'tengerism' and Tsagaan Sar itself. Tsagaan Sar ("white moon") is Mongolia's Lunar New Year. It isn't tied to the Chinese calendar so it does not fall on the same date. It is a time when the world's spirits briefly leave for the upper world (on the eve) and come back refreshed (on Tsagaan Sar). It is a time of positivism, of putting aside differences and with no conflict. There are rituals, blessings, feasts and communal activities (with family). On the eve of Tsagaan Sar (called "Bituun") people tend to stick to their homes because of superstitions, this is to not invite any lingering bad spirits."Are you living peacefully?/Amar baina uu?" is a common Tsagaan Sar greeting. It customary to wear white on this day, though it is not required.
4-4:30PM EST - Opening Ritual hosted by Udgan Uyanga Torgud. We will welcome the spirits back and receive their blessings.
4:30-6:30PM EST - Community activities such as games, feasting, storytelling and anything that helps bring people closer together in fun & joy.
